Taking Personal Inventory Is Essential to My Recovery
Prior to my recovery journey, I didn’t care much to take an inventory. I didn’t like what was there. For me to become this transcendent person I need to incorporate things that were uncomfortable so I did not do them to incorporate things that were still uncomfortable but now I must do them. Taking a Personal Inventory not only allows me to clear away the negative debris from my past, but it also helps me take control of my present and even future. Here are some things that I suggested. You may have your own list. If you like this list but maybe not the order, then change the order.
At the end of the day, whether you do this list your own list or someone else’s list we must take a personal inventory if we are to expect recovery.
- Mandates honesty
- Keeps me aware of my comings and goings
- Helps me be more in control of my day
- It is my tool for getting things settled
- Relieves me of unwanted anxiety
- Helps me get to rest sooner
- Clears the way for me to have a more positive tomorrow
- Aids in helping others know they have value to me
- Frees me from any bondage that not doing these things can bring
- Empowers me to change from the things I find myself having to walk back, apologize or repair
- Help keep me aligned with my principals and my relationship with God
- Helps in the guiding others that look to me as an example of recovery
